Wooden beehives, bottom boards and components — since 1983
Kipselotechniki has been manufacturing wooden beehives since 1983. We started in Anilio, Metsovo, and today we produce in our modern facilities in the Ioannina Industrial Park, supplying beekeepers, beekeeping cooperatives and equipment retailers across Greece and Europe.
Every hive is built from selected pine using state-of-the-art machinery, and is delivered ready to paint with no preparation required from the beekeeper. The quality of the timber and the precision of the joinery are why our name has been known in Greek beekeeping for forty years.
Our range covers the complete wooden apiary: 10-frame Langstroth hives, 5-frame nucleus hives, screw-assembled and nail-assembled honey supers, solid pine and plywood covers, wired and unassembled frames, solid and anti-varroa screened wooden bottom boards, queen rearing hives, separators, metal fasteners and plastic feet.
The plastic hive bottom board we designed — Kipselotechniki’s composite perforated base — was awarded 1st Prize by the Greek Industrial Property Organisation (OBI), with structural certification by Optiphore. It works as an anti-varroa screened bottom board, adjusts hive ventilation from 0% to 100%, integrates pollen traps and collectors, and converts into a fully closed double floor: four functions in a single component.
Our hives and components carry ISO 9001 certification. Large orders are delivered on our own trucks; smaller quantities ship through freight partners. Prices are quoted on request, by phone or email.
Frequently asked questions
What wood are your beehives made from?
Our hives are made from selected high-quality pine. Covers and some bottom boards are also available in water-resistant plywood. Everything is delivered ready to paint — no sanding or other preparation needed.
What hive types do you manufacture?
We manufacture 10-frame Langstroth hives (417 × 507 mm), as well as 5-frame nucleus hives. They are available with a fixed bottom board, a fixed screened bottom board, or a detachable bottom board — wooden or plastic.
What is the Kipselotechniki plastic hive bottom board?
It is a patented composite perforated plastic base, winner of the 1st Prize from OBI. It doubles as an anti-varroa screened bottom board — dislodged mites fall through and leave the colony — and offers ventilation adjustable from 0% to 100%, integrated pollen traps and collectors, a perimeter safety channel, reinforced stops and legs. Available in a basic and a Full Extra version, for Langstroth and Dadant hives.
